Delco Power Antenna W/Door at the bottom of the gear case.

These are the steps to install a cable and mast for a Delco Power unit that has a plastic removable door at the bottom of the gear case that is held on with torx screws.

1.  Remove the power unit from the car.

2.  Remove the plastic door at the bottom of the gear case and then remove both the mast and cable from the power unit.

How to Remove the Mast:  A threw E Below.

        A.
Turn on your Radio, and with the ignition key on, plug the power unit  back in and allow the power unit to cycle until it stops.
This is done with the power unit laying in the trunk of the car.

        B.  Unplug the power lead from your power antenna relay.

        C.
Manually extend the mast tubes so that all of the mast sections protrude from the upper insulator.   Extend the top mast rod section from the lower tube sections.  Unscrew the Finial / Tip using a wrench.   Keep the solid top mast section from rotating by griping it with a pliers or vise grip.   ( see Figure 1 below )

        D.   Unscrew the upper black plastic insulator from the top of the mast storage tube housing using a 14mm 12 point socket, then pull the tube sections out of the storage tube. ( see Figure 1 below )

        E.   Now at the door entry remove the remaining fish hook and cable from the drum.  Keep note how the hook is engaged into that drum.

3.  Now without either the mast, cable, and no door installed,  take the power unit back to your car, FIRST turn the key on and the radio on, THEN plug the power unit back into the power plug and let the power unit run until it shuts off by its self.  This is done with the power unit laying in the trunk of the car.

4.  Now after the power unit shuts off, THEN unplug it from the car first.  AFTER you unplug the power unit now turn the key and radio OFF.

5.  Now don't move a thing and only install the cable portion of the mast up into the actuator hole into the storage tube.   ( see Figure 2 above )   At this point the cable should be sticking out the top of the storage tube.   Now don't move the drum and connect the fish hook into the drum where it is, and gently lay the cable down into the grove of the drum.  ( see Figure 3 below )   Note that if you have a new cable that has a felt piece and a plastic pieces on the cable cut both those pieces off before you install the new cable.

6.  Now put the lower plastic door back on with all its torx screws.

7.  Now take the power unit back to your car, make sure that the radio & key is off, You want to plug in the unit ONLY LONG ENOUGH to draw the cable in until the rod portion of the cable is about to go in. DO NOT RUN THE UNIT ANY LONGER OR YOU WILL DESTROY THE UNIT. You will run it only for about 2 or 3 seconds.

8.  Now install the Tube sections of the mast back  into the top of the storage tube, along with the upper black plastic insulator that holds the Mast in,  screw the tip onto the solid rod section of the cable.

9.  Now take the power unit back to the car and plug it back in, it should run down the rest of the way, if so turn the radio back on and it should run all the way up. If it runs correctly install the power unit back into the car.  If it doesn't work correctly, start over with step 2
