How to Remove the Honda, Acura,
 Sleeve Instructions

        |   |

        1.
Take a 7/16" inch drill bit and see if it fits into the antenna tube
where you just pulled out  the antenna mast.  If it
doesn't fit in the hole where the mast just
        came out, then there

        IS
        (
even though you think its out
) part of the old antenna sleeve stuck in the power unit.  If the
7/16 bit fits then the mast will fit.  If the 7/16 " bit doesn't
fit then go to the next step.    |

        2.

Remove the power unit from the car and gently put it into a vice for
        removal of the sleeve.    |

        3.

Next take a 27/64 inch drill bit and put it into your drill and very slowly
and gently drill out the sleeve that is stuck in the antenna tube.
You must drill it out very slowly and gently or you
    WILL break the antenna tube.
You will drill in about 3 inches and then it will drill very easy, at this
point stop drilling.     50% of the time when you are
doing this, it will grab the sleeve and turn it and raise it up out of the
antenna tube.   If this is the case, grab a hold of the sleeve and
pull it out.     Now with the sleeve out, put a 7/16
inch bit in your drill and ream out the hole one more time with this bit.
You will need to go in about 3".   Now you are set for the
    installation of the new mast.
If when you have drilled the sleeve with the 27/64 inch
bit and it didn't come out proceed to the next step, step 4.

        4.  Next take a  7/16 inch drill bit and put it into your drill and
very slowly and gently drill out the sleeve that is stuck in the antenna
tube.   You must drill it out very slowly and gently or you
WILL break the antenna tube.   You will drill in
about 3 inches and then it will drill very easy, at this point stop
drilling.   Now you are set for the installation of the new
        mast.
** It is BEST to do this with the power unit
removed from the car, as the photo below shows what in general you will
        be doing.

        |  TIP 1: |

Before you install the New mast take the power unit apart and clean out
any debris that is found in the power unit from drilling and any other
dirt you may find, and then re grease the unit where you had found such
grease in it before you had cleaned it.

        |  TIP
        2: |

Put a very light film of grease on the middle of the sleeve before you
install the mast.  This will allow it it go in easier.  Also
do not by any means get any grease on the mast itself.  If you do
so in time it will collect dust and then the dust will act as sand paper
and wear the  New Mast you just put in, out much faster.

        TIP 3: |

If after you install your new Mast and it makes a Clicking or a Grinding
sound when it reaches the top and bottom travel
